Spring Break has come and gone, and we're now working as hard as we can in order to be ready for Beta, which is Wednesday of next week. GDC has caused a lack of work for some of our members, and others were out of town, so we're working extra hard. I didn't have any plans, so I stayed home and did various work for classes as well as the game.
I created the actual HUD that we'll be using for the game, and it doesn't look too shabby. I also created a multiplayer version of the HUD. As I speak, we're currently getting networking put into our game. The actual system works! We just need to get it put into the game. Currently, there's not much interactivity. You can see your opponents score and health. We'll be adding more onto this after Beta, and I'm looking forward to it.
Left: Single player HUD. Right: Multiplayer HUD.
[Left side is health, bottom right is for weapon icon, top right is for score and timer.]
I spent my Spring Break learning how to use Mixcraft 5 to create music for the game. I created a full length background track as well as 13 musical loops that will be used for the weapons. Instead of playing sound for the weapons, it will loop music. I spent time trying to make sure that everything would fit together asynchronously, but I'm sure it will take more tweaking in order to get it right.
I'll see you at the end of Beta week and let you know how it goes. Peace.
Sincerely,
Alicia Yeargin.
