[Explosive Dawn] Spring, Week 12 - Light at the End

Greetings,

It's the end of Week 12, and we're still hard at work getting the last touches up on our game. We made the decision to take out the networked multiplayer stuff. Our programmer will still get credit for doing the work, but it won't be a part of our final product as we don't feel we have enough time to bring it up to the standard that the rest of our game is at. Sometimes you just have to shoot your baby.

As I think I mentioned before, he's taking over AI so that our sound guy can focus on getting that done. So that's one big thing we did over the past week. We also replaced the laser gun with the helix gun because we wanted to make the weapons feel a bit more calligraphic. Our AI is currently underway. We're getting our enemies to sync up on beats. Sound, AI, polish, and TCR's are our main focus right now on our final days of development.

Left: New Helix gun. Right: Helix + Bomb.

I've been working all day on art assets because with the change in the weaponry there's a change in assets, so I updated all the necessary assets for that to happen. I updated the game over screen, credits screen, main menu, and I'm in the process of completely redoing our how to play page, since it was just a placeholder anyway. I've split the information up into four pages, and I'm putting nice, stylistic pictures of the controls up to make things crystal clear for players who want to know how to play our game.

That's what we've got for now. As always, I'll let you know what we've got by the end of next week--our last week before the final week! (It's twelve days until our due date.) See you then. Peace.

Sincerely,
Alicia Yeargin.
